Starting Anew

It's Spring, exemplifying the start of anew - new life and new beginnings.
It can arrive in all sorts of ways, such as the birth of new life, regrowth of plants or rewriting ones future.

We've had a few changes within the family circle, some joyous and others overwhelmingly bittersweet.

The birth of Cruz, my second grandchild was by far the highlight of the year not to mention a true miracle.
And although I often think about his twin that didn't survive, it breaking my heart to imagine the pain my daughter experienced, I have to keep reminding myself it wasn't meant to be.

Kenna must have overheard me and her father talking about that the other night (losing a child) and how something like that affects a woman.  He asked about the baby I aborted (not using that exact word) and even mentioning the name I unofficially gave her and while I was a little taken aback as to his asking, what surprised me even more was Kenna's inquiry the next day. Her asking me about "the baby" and why she's not here, telling me "Victoria" is a beautiful name. Talk about being disconcerted!
At least someone (those who truly care) have acknowledged her (fetus) semi-existence.

Things change, we move forward hoping for the best.

grassland behind mom's farmhouse
My mother's farm has been sold and although it's been a couple years since we've seen grazing cattle on the acreage (It had become too difficult for her to manage after the passing of my stepfather, although she did try)  I'm going to miss seeing the picturesque landscape view and enticing pear-shaped pond where the cattle once drank from.
